There are over 40 different types of epilepsy consisting of at least 29. when playing sport when younger and now, looking back, thinks they were early signs.

A few people said that it is only now, after being diagnosed and looking back in time, that they realise that early episodes of 'passing out' or frequent 'twitches' were connected to their epilepsy. Some hadn't been concerned because they didn't think these experiences were anything out of the ordinary and weren't aware that others didn't in fact experience this. Several people said these early experiences were scary as they didn't understand what was going on.

Epilepsy Signs and Symptoms. Most children with epilepsy experience more than one type of seizure. The two types of seizures are generalized or partial.

Generalized seizures result from electrical impulses arising from the entire brain. There are six types of generalized seizures. They typically occur without warning.

The difference between simple and complex seizures is that during simple partial seizures, your child will retain awareness. They are divided into simple and complex seizures, as well as those that evolve from partial-onset seizures into generalized tonic-clonic seizures. Partial seizures, also known as local or focal seizures, originate from activity in a smaller part of the brain. During complex partial seizures, your child will lose awareness.
