Question - What happens if you take klonopin and then drink excessive amount of alcohol I am al - NT. Find the answer to this and other Mental Health questions.

The long term effects of drinking alcohol and say, klonopin are that your symptoms of clinical depression will almost certainly worsen. This would probably undermine the effects of antidepressants you might be taking for mood disturbance. The effect is that your meds will GREATLY increase the symptoms and effects of alcohol e.g., you will show mental impairment at lower doses of alcohol, cannot safely drive, even if your blood alcohol level per se, is below the 'legal limit', etc. So small amounts of alcohol with these drugs, can cause really significant cognitive impairment e.g., thinking, problem solving, creation of memories, recall of memories, etc. Yep.
