The effects of probenecid and valproate on lorazepam may be due to inhibition of glucuronidation.

Concurrent administration of lorazepam with probenecid may result in a more rapid onset or prolonged effect of lorazepam due to increased half-life and decreased total clearance. Lorazepam dosage needs to be reduced by approximay 50% when coadministered with probenecid.

It helps by increasing our awareness of what's going on around us and in other ways.

Niacin drug causes serious side effects and no heart benefits, study

An experimental drug containing niacin did not benefit heart disease patients despite moderay raising their levels of the “good” HDL.

The four-year trial involved more than 25,000 patients with established heart disease who were randomly assigned to take either a combination of extended-release niacin and laropiprant, to reduce niacin-induced flushing, or a placebo. All the patients were already taking a statin to lower high levels of “bad” cholesterol.

“I think this study further muddies the waters” in terms of the protective role HDL plays in preventing heart attacks, said Dr. “We have strong epidemiological evidence that those with high HDL levels have lower rates of cardiovascular disease, but ongoing trials with HDL-raising medications have been negative thus far.”.

Works like a charm at putting my blood pressure in the 110's (prev in 130's), heart rate in 50's. At first, I was very bloaty and gassy from it, but that disappeared after a couple weeks. I'm a 47 yr old female who was prescribed Metoprolol to reduce my blood pressure about 3 mo ago, to prevent further dilation of an aneurysm. I started at 25mg then was increased to 50mg.

You should also let your doctor know if you have pheochromocytoma, a rare tumor that develops on a gland near the kidneys that can cause high blood pressure and a fast heartbeat.

There's not enough evidence to say that metoprolol is safe during pregnancy, and pregnant women should take it only if there is a clear need.
